Is it really possible to know God? To call on him as you would a friend? Yes, a personal relationship with God is possible through Jesus Christ.

Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3 NIV)

God’s Plan

All things were created by God and for him. This includes you. You were made by God and for him.

For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. (Colossians 1:16 NIV)

From the very beginning, God designed you for a relationship with him.

The Problem

But you are missing this Person you were made for because you have been basically living for yourself instead of for him. You are missing God in your life because you have put yourself first. You have run your life instead of letting God run it.

When you put your own interests first in front of God’s, the Bible calls that sin and that sin has a high price tag. The Bible says that your sins have separated you from God. Sin has put a wall between you and the one you were made for. We all have done it!

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23 NLT)

As a result, you are cut off from the one who has the love, the meaning and answers you need. And if we die with that wall still there, it is there forever.

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2 NIV)

God’s Solution

The Bible says that the price for putting yourself first is death. Your sin carries an eternal death penalty.

For the payoff of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NET)

However, here is the greatest news you will ever hear: God loves you so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the price for the sin in your life. Jesus carried your sins in His own body when He died on the cross.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT)

When Jesus was dying on the cross, he was taking the death penalty that you and everyone else deserve. You did the sinning, Jesus did the dying. So now you can be forgiven. The wall between you and God can come down. The relationship with God that you were designed for can begin and will last forever.

Your Response

God loved you so much that he sent his one and only son Jesus to die for you. If you believe in Jesus, you will be forgiven and enter into a personal relationship with God.

For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NET)

Now to believe in Jesus means to transfer your trust from yourself and place it all on Jesus and his death for you.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household. (Acts 16:31 NKJV)

God wants to give you the gift of forgiveness. The gift was paid for by the death of Jesus. All you need to do is receive the gift by transferring your faith onto Jesus.

For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8–9 NET)

You express your trust in Jesus through a simple prayer like this:

"Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner separated from you. I know I can’t save myself. I know Jesus died for me and rose from the grave. I transfer my trust onto Jesus and trust him alone as my personal Savior. Thank you for forgiving me and for my new relationship with you. In Jesus name, Amen."
