New Covenant’s history can best be summarized by our mission “to honor God as a family of growing disciples.” A desire to honor God, family and numerical and spiritual growth have characterized our church over the years.

God’s faithfulness to our church has been evident from our humble beginnings in the 1940s right up to the present. The small group of Christians who gathered in homes during the summer of 1948 to study God’s Word and to pray were probably unaware of the significance of their actions.

On January 9, 1949, First Covenant Church (our name changed in 1987 to New Covenant Bible Church) met for the first time in their new basement at 701 25th Street NE. A year later an auditorium was completed. And on February 5, 1950, 21 charter members met to formally organize the church.

In 1981 the leadership of First Covenant developed a 25-year vision to grow from their present size of 475 to 1800 people. The vision was driven by their Biblical mandate to: “Communicate the gospel effectively to all people in our constituent area. Disciple our church family in a way that promotes spiritual growth and service. Extend the gospel into all the world according to Matthew 28:19.”

Based on this mandate and vision, this small church of 150 families voted to purchase Eisenhower School at 1800 46th Street NE. They took out a $500,000 loan at 18% interest in order to purchase the building and seven acres of property.

A remodeled facility with room for children’s ministry and an activity center that could seat 450 for worship led to additional growth. In 1995 plans were drawn up to build a new worship center, and adult and youth classrooms on our present site. We moved into these expanded facilities in 1998 and continued to see spiritual and numerical growth.

In May 2005, due to continued growth and limited facilities, our church family voted 204-2 to purchase 55 acres at North Center Point Road. And so, for the second time in 20 years, our church family stepped out in faith and decided to relocate once again! We officially broke ground and began construction on October 24, 2009. On Sunday, August 28, 2011, our Worship Services were held in our new facility at 3090 N. Center Point Road. Our Worship Center has seating for 1,100 people. The central Main Street area allows easy access to our Children’s, Youth, and Adult areas. The Main Street Café provides beverages, pastries on Sundays, and occasional weekday lunches. In 2014, The Foundry (for Middle School and classrooms were added to the northeast corner of our facility.

God is faithful! Come and join us as we seek to honor God as a family of growing disciples.
