Pursuing God and pursuing others. That's what Jacob Bran and Aaron Zieser, members of New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, had on their hearts as they spent a week volunteering with Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief in Louisiana. Along with their friend Paul Siver, the three men dove into helping people rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, including tree removal, tarping roofs, and removing mold from dry wall, ceilings, and carpets.
"This was the first time I've deployed with Samaritan's Purse, and I am very impressed with their operation," Jacob says. "If you're looking for a good place to donate time, energy, money, or disaster relief in Jesus' name, I can highly recommend Samaritan's Purse." Jacob's experience with the group was so positive that he intends to keep serving alongside them "as long as natural disasters continue, and as much as God allows."
"Not only was it a pleasure serving the people, but it was also a pleasure serving alongside people, too," Aaron adds. He found it inspiring to meet several dedicated volunteers who spent months working on various disaster relief assignments, including here in Cedar Rapids following the derecho of August 2020. "They expressed their appreciation for how we opened up our church facility and welcomed them in."
Thank you Jacob, Aaron, and Paul for your commitment to serving others in Jesus' name!
