James Wartian Reception
Sunday, March 31
Between Services in the Library

Pastor James Wartian is transitioning from our New Covenant staff to be one of our Global Partners! Pastor James will be the Operations Director of Ministry Essentials Int’l, an organization whose goal is to see global workers (missionaries and national Christian leaders) thrive in their work and ministry as they are being transformed into the likeness of God's Son.

Stop by the Library between services to express your appreciation for James’ 15 years of service at NCBC. Cards and notes welcome.

James has served in many different roles during his 15 years here at NCBC. Since his arrival in 2004 as the Mature Adult and Missions Pastor.  Most recently he has served as Pastor of Electives and Global Outreach.

"When I look back on my nearly 15 years at New Covenant, what I will remember most will be the people. I enjoyed working with those 50 and older as they approached retirement, were a part of Young at Heart, and as many explored how to use their gifts and talent for the Kingdom in the second half of their life. I will remember others who cared for our missionaries, joined us on short term mission trips, and a few who even
left New Covenant to go to the mission field.

I especially saw God work through New Covenant through our partnership with Compassion International and with St. Paul’s Church in India. It was a privilege to see us sponsor over 700 Compassion Children in the last 10 years. It was amazing to see how God used our four teams to build into the children, staff, and parents at two Compassion Child Development Centers in India as we did Vacation Bible School, training, and a parent conference. New Covenant has made a lasting difference in a region of India that will only be fully known in eternity.

On a personal level, I am grateful for the many people who were our friends in Adult Bible Fellowships, small groups, on staff, and our many friends on Main Street as we raised Andrew here and attended here as a family. We have been blessed beyond what we deserve and are glad that, for at least the near future, we will remain in Cedar Rapids. We look forward to still seeing our many friends here at church and in the community as we follow God’s calling to help missionaries thrive and have longevity on the mission field."

James' last day on the NCBC staff will be March 31. We are so thankful for his service to our church family.
