Lifegiving Table

A Lifegiving table…intriguing isn’t it, or perhaps, intimidating? I was filled with hope and a little doubt as I held The Lifegiving Table; with its perfect looking table on the cover.

Our dining room table collected piles of paper, grocery lists and artwork treasures and I viewed it with irritation, frantically clearing it daily just to have a place for plates of food for my family.

But then I read The Lifegiving Table by Sally Clarkson.

Each of the chapters was an invitation to a table where I could sit and enjoy a sampling of inspirational quotes, scriptures, and principles from a family that ministered to one another. Clarkson even included family favorite recipes that I was ready to serve to my family.

Everyone’s journey through this book will be different and Clarkson does a fabulous job of reminding the reader to “customize” his or her tables. While the purpose for all our tables is the same, how the table looks is based on our own families’ ages, stages and seasons.

The tables in my home took on a whole new meaning and are no longer an area of irritation but a place of discipleship, relationships and eating comforting food while comforting hearts and nurturing bodies and souls.

Be bold and courageous as you transform your table into that life-giving space where Christ is known, hearts are changed and love is sweetly given just as Jesus instructed us to do.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good….” Psalm 34:8 NIV
