Why Baptism?

Why should I consider being baptized?

Expression of Love and Gratitude
The main reason for being baptized is to express our love and gratitude for Jesus rescuing us from eternal death and giving us new life.

May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. (Colossians 1:11b–14 NLT)

Obedience
Baptism is an opportunity to follow Jesus in obedience to His command, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19 NLT) It is a public, outward expression of your faith in Jesus as your personal Savior.

You've Trusted Jesus Christ
Every person who has trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior should be baptized. Once a person has believed in Jesus, he or she is ready for baptism. There are no other requirements – nothing more and nothing less.

"[Paul and Silas] replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.' And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized." (Acts 16:31-33 NLT).

Our Next Baptism
I invite you, as a believer in Jesus Christ, to follow Jesus by being baptized. Our next baptism will be during the worship services on Sunday, May 5. Please register online or pick up a brochure in the Connect Room, just off Main Street. Registration ends Tuesday, April 16.
