More Than a Cafe!

It’s a Café with a cause! Lives changed in Jesus’ name. And we get to be a part of it! Since 2011, we’ve donated over $27,000 to the Child Survival program in India, and now Nicaragua. Our donations come from the tips and proceeds from our Main Street Café as well as our Early Childhood offering! The Survival Program, a ministry of Compassion International, focuses on promoting development and survival of the most vulnerable babies, while also providing education and support for the mother or primary caregiver.

Meet Karla Vanessa Hernandez!
This 23-year-old mom lives in the community of Carlos Nunez, in Nicaragua. Karla and her daughter Adriana, age 4, live with her mother-in-law, often alone because her husband travels to find work as a masonry assistant. She is so thankful for the Child Survival program and how it gives her child the opportunity to grow and develop into a healthy little girl.

“The birth of my daughter has been a blessing. Adriana is a little sick as she has flu right now, but the Survival Program provided medicine, and thanks to God she is doing better. She learns and grows more each day. When I entered, they gave me a Bible and a mosquito net. They give us medical checkups and they help us with the purchase of medicine, Christmas gifts, the celebration of birthdays, monthly food packages and more. They have taught me how to educate my child and they treat me with respect and understanding. They have helped us economically and spiritually a lot because they have taught us to go to church and to thank God for all of our blessings. I feel deeply grateful first to God and then to the ministry for each of the blessings I have received.”

We Can’t Wait
We can’t wait to hear more stories of babies saved, children growing, and moms equipped to take care of their children - all in Jesus’ name. So stop by the Café, enjoy another cup of coffee, and don’t forget to tip generously. We can change the world together.
