Biggest Thing to Ever Happen to Us

“We never thought it would be possible for our village to have clean water.
This is the biggest thing that has ever happened to us.”
Kalunda villager

A teary-eyed elderly man from Kalundu village said those words to the Seed Company team as they drilled the first-ever water well in his village. For generations and generations of people living in villages across Western Zambia, a clean water source was an impossible dream. But through a God-given vision and the contributions of so many, this is beginning to change!

And We had a Part!
Do you remember? Back in December 2019, our church family said yes to joining together to change the world through our Advent Conspiracy offering! We were able to give $8,000 for two wells to the Zambia Project and over $31,000 for Bible translation to the people of the Mongu Cluster via the Seed Company.

Update from the Team
We recently contacted these teams to hear what God was accomplishing with our gift. The Seed Company Team shared:

We know through Scripture that God has tasked His church with being His hands and feet to the world. We believe that we cannot merely share the gospel with villages and communities in Western Zambia without also showing them Christ’s love. We do this by:

  • Planting churches in rural communities
  • Translating the Bible into five local languages
  • Drilling water wells
  • Running a childcare center for impoverished children in our community
  • Empowering local women through an initiative called Hope Art
  • Running a vibrant church in Mongu that acts as the hub for everything that we do in the Western Province
  • Training up new missionaries who will be able to accelerate the work being done.

New Covenant Bible Church and The Seed Company partner for clean water, new churches and Bible translation in Zambia.

You Said Yes
Through your saying yes to what God had put on your hearts, this community is surer than ever that God is for them, that He has good plans for them, and that the body of Christ is living and active. The villages of Kalundu and Simalumba now have clean, safe drinking water that will improve the lives of every person living in these villages. This has given the churches in this area great excitement to share the Good News with their surrounding villages.

Fourth-Generation Church Plant
God is doing amazing things through our village churches and we see so many of them growing in passion and favor. Many have taken on the great commission and have become church planters within their communities and to the surrounding areas. Last year, we were able to see our first fourth-generation church planted in a village called Lundu. What this means is that our church planting team planted a church in a town called Miulwe. Miulwe planted a church in a nearby village called Ikambomo. And Ikambomo planted a church in Lundu. It was the fervent prayer of this community to have clean, safe drinking water for its people and God answered that prayer through you, New Covenant Bible Church. We are confident that God is going to continue using this to grow His church and are excited to see a fifth, a sixth, and even a seventh-generation church in this area in the future.

Thank you so much for joining alongside us and being such a blessing to these communities. We are excited to share all that God is continuing to do in this area.

Ministry History
Back in 2003, founders, Paul and Marinette van Coller, moved to Mongu, Western Zambia, with a vision to reach people for the Lord and share a message of hope, truth, and love with the thousands of people living without hope and in spiritual darkness. Since then, The Zambia Project has continued with the vision of establishing a life-giving church within walking distance of every person in Western Zambia and seeing all villages impacted by the Gospel and uplifted through a strong Christian community.
