Health & Safety

On November 18, 2020, the Linn County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a new mask mandate written by the Linn County Board of Health which takes effect November 19. As a result, we are now requiring everyone to wear a mask while attending services and programs at New Covenant.

There are some allowed exemptions listed in the mandate including:

  • Persons younger than 2 years old
  • Anyone who has trouble breathing, on oxygen therapy or ventilator
  • Anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the face covering without assistance
  • Anyone who has been provided written notice from a medical, legal, or behavioral health professional not to wear face coverings
  • Anyone who is in the process of eating or drinking
  • Anyone who is outdoors when staying six (6) feet away from others

More detailed information including some additional exemptions and guidance on appropriate mask use is given in the full mandate which can be found here.

Thank you in advance for honoring our request and for your flexibility. Please be mindful that there may be some people in attendance who meet one of the given exemptions. I continue to urge all of us to seek to put into practice passages calling us to act in love and serve humbly such as Romans chapter 12 including verses like "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." (vs. 10) Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.e who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Rom. 8:28)

Finally, we'd like to ask you to join us in prayer. It seems that all of us have been impacted by COVID in some form or another. Let's pray for wisdom, discernment, and grace as we each navigate through this incredibly complex season. We are thankful we know that in all things, including COVID, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Rom. 8:28)
