The Christmas season is a time of special generosity, a time when we joyfully give “to what we’re thankful for, and to what breaks our heart,” as Pastor Jay has frequently said.
In 2021, New Covenant Bible Church will again partner with The Zambia Project as the recipient of our church family’s year-end giving.
We are excited about the continuing momentum for Christ in Zambia. Matt Mackie, Head of Operations at The Zambia Project, recently shared with us some of the successes that God has brought about through the generosity of His people:
- 22 churches were planted in 2021. The Zambia Project’s vision is to establish a life-giving church within walking distance of every person in the Western Province and to see all villages impacted by the Gospel and uplifted through a strong Christian Community.
- Access to clean water changes everything. In Zambia, three out of five children die before their fifth birthday, largely because of lack of clean water. A $4,000 water well installed in Zambia serves approximately 1,000 villagers, providing clean, safe drinking water within a 1-2 minute walk, where previously it required a 12-18 hour walk.
- The work of Bible translation continues. Imagine if you’d never before held a Bible in your hands. Imagine if the language you spoke had never before been translated into a written alphabet. That’s what many of the Mongu people have experienced – until now. Bible translators are working to bring God’s word to life – literally – in their mother tongue.
Matt Mackie will be on-site at New Covenant on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at both the 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM church services. He’ll share more specifically about what New Covenant's involvement and generosity means to the people of Zambia.
